The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has raised concerns about air quality and environmental pollution in Madhya Pradesh, especially in industrial areas. The air quality index (AQI) has been a significant part of the ongoing monitoring in the state. Several cities, including Indore, face poor air quality due to factors like industrial emissions, vehicular pollution, and construction activities. The AQI in Indore, for instance, has been reported as "unhealthy," indicating a level where people are likely to experience health issues, particularly respiratory problems

NGT's reports emphasize the need for improved air quality monitoring and stronger enforcement of pollution control measures. In response to the pollution concerns, the tribunal has urged local authorities to address issues such as non-compliance by industries, especially in highly polluted areas, and the inadequacies in controlling air quality standards. Various actions, such as industry shutdowns and stricter air quality control, have been recommended to improve the situation
