"Let the husband die, but the earthen pot of water should not be broken." This saying starkly illustrates the severe water crisis in Bundelkhand, where women often trek long distances to fetch water.
Bundelkhand, spanning parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, battles extreme droughts , water scarcity , and challenging agricultural conditions. The region's struggle is compounded by erratic rainfall , rising temperatures , and inadequate water management.
The agricultural drought has pushed many into poverty , with traditional water structures falling into disrepair. Additionally, caste-based discrimination further limits access to essential resources.
