The eMobility R&D Roadmap for India outlines a strategic plan to propel the country’s electric mobility sector forward through targeted research and development. It highlights the need for advancements in material science, including graphene manufacturing and innovative storage technologies for electric vehicles (EVs).
Additionally, it stresses improving production techniques for essential components such as Wide Band Gap devices and Fuel Cell membranes. India’s current reliance on imports underscores the urgency for increased investment and action.
The roadmap recommends focused R&D in four critical areas:
It advocates for public funding to support high-risk research phases and suggests that industry involvement should grow as projects progress from proof of concept to large-scale production. By fostering bold initiatives and trust-based collaborations, the roadmap aims to reduce import dependency, drive innovation, and position India as a leader in the electric mobility sector.
