Heat is fast emerging as an urgent climate challenge, especially for vulnerable communities like urban slum residents, gig workers, construction labourers, and domestic helpers. Rising temperatures are leading to loss of livelihoods, health risks, and growing inequalities.
For the past two years, The Analysis has been closely tracking the impact of heat stress in Madhya Pradesh — documenting incidents, analysing policies, and amplifying stories of those most affected.
As part of this effort, we have created a publication that systematically records heat-related incidents in India between February and December 2024, using media reports from Dainik Bhaskar and The Indian Express.
This documentation not only helps us understand the evolving heat crisis but also informs our on-ground work, research, and engagement with communities and policymakers to build long-term resilience against heat stress.
